Rohan corporation celebrates Independence Day

Rohan Corporation India Pvt Ltd celebrated the 80th Independence Day with flag-hoisting ceremonies at its residential and commercial projects across Mangaluru on Saturday. The main programme was held at Rohan Square in Capitanio in the presence of residents, employees and winners of the company’s Independence Day drawing competition.

Veteran agriculturist Jack Anil hoisted the national flag in the presence of Rohan Corporation Managing Director Dr Rohan Monteiro, Director Dion Monteiro, General Manager Sumana and special guest M K Ali.

Anil was felicitated with the ‘Krishi Vrukshanweshaka Sadhaka’ Award for his contribution to traditional agricultural practices, conservation of indigenous jackfruit varieties and promotion of awareness about plant diversity.

Speaking at the programme, Rohan Monteiro said Independence Day provided an opportunity to reflect on India’s progress and the responsibility of contributing to the communities where the company operates. Dion Monteiro said the spirit of progress and development should also guide the growth of Mangaluru.

The event also marked the conclusion of Freedom Palette 2026, a drawing competition conducted on the theme ‘The Coast in the Story of India’. Sixty finalists who participated in the final round at Rohan City, Bejai, received cash prizes and certificates. Pixncil Studio served as the jury partner for the competition.

Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremonies were also conducted at City Square on MG Road and at Ballalbagh. Adv Azeez and Dr Padmanabha Kamath hoisted the national flag at the respective venues.

At High Crest in Kadri, Surendra Pai led the flag-hoisting ceremony in the presence of residents and staff. The programmes brought together members of the Rohan community to mark the national occasion and celebrate achievements in agriculture, creativity and community development.
