The 80th Independence Day was celebrated in a grand manner at the Panjina Kavayathu Maidan in Mysuru, jointly organised by the district administration, Zilla Panchayat and Mysuru City Corporation. District In-charge Minister and Urban Development Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah hoisted the national flag.
The Minister received the guard of honour and inspected the contingents. An impressive parade was conducted by 24 contingents. He later delivered the Independence Day message.
Students from various schools presented patriotic dance performances. Silver medals were presented to KSRTC drivers who had maintained an accident-free driving record.
Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait presided over the programme.

Ganesh, Karnataka Exhibition Authority Chairman Ayub Khan, Regional Commissioner of Mysuru Division Nitesh Patil, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, Zilla Panchayat CEO S. Yukesh Kumar, Mysuru City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi, MCC Commissioner M.K. Savitha, Additional Deputy Commissioner Aishwarya, senior officials from various departments and members of the public were present.
