Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said opposition parties would continue to challenge the BJP-led government until Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah step down. Addressing the Ratchnatmak Congress National Convention, Gandhi said the opposition had begun expressing itself and described the movement as “unstoppable”.
Gandhi said the opposition would keep Modi and Shah “awake”, arguing that the political fight was about protecting the country’s values, ethos and culture. He criticised the government’s political approach, alleging that the BJP sought to impose an order that benefited the party and certain other groups.
The Congress leader also criticised the government over Pakistan’s role in the ongoing West Asia crisis. He said India could have played a more active role because of its friendly relations with countries involved in the conflict. Gandhi argued that India should use its relationships and influence to contribute to efforts aimed at addressing the crisis.
His remarks came as Congress and other opposition parties have stepped up their criticism of the government on several issues. Gandhi said the opposition’s political expression had gathered momentum and would continue. He maintained that the campaign was not simply about changing political leadership, but about defending the country’s broader democratic and cultural values.
The Congress leader’s comments are expected to add to the political debate between the ruling party and opposition. He said the opposition would remain united in raising questions before the public. With both sides taking stronger positions on national and international issues, the confrontation is likely to remain a key feature of parliamentary and public political discussions in the coming days.
