Gadag city witnessed a grand 100-metre-long Tiranga Yatra as part of celebrations marking the 80th year of the country’s independence. The procession was held with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit, drawing large crowds at several locations across the city.
More than 500 people participated in the rally, including school and college students, retired soldiers, women, writers, artists, social workers, representatives of various organisations and members of the public. Participants marched together while displaying the national flag and expressing their respect and pride for the country.
The yatra began at Hatalageri Naka and proceeded through Chetana Canteen and K.C. Rani Road before reaching K.C. Bank. From there, the procession continued through Rotary Circle, Old Bus Stand, Huilagola Narayana Circle, also known as Tangkoota, and Mahendrakara Circle.
The procession finally reached Sri Tontadarya Math, where the event concluded successfully. Along the route, residents gathered in large numbers to welcome the participants and show their support for the patriotic initiative.
Participants raised slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” throughout the procession, creating an atmosphere of national pride and unity. Students and citizens carried the Tricolour with enthusiasm, while former servicemen and social workers added significance to the event.
The organisers said the Tiranga Yatra was intended to strengthen patriotic feelings among citizens, particularly the younger generation, and remind people of the sacrifices made for the nation. The participation of people from different sections of society highlighted the spirit of unity and collective respect for the national flag.
The colourful procession transformed Gadag’s streets into a display of patriotism and national pride, with citizens joining together to celebrate the country’s independence journey.
