Lake revitalization work has begun under the VB-G RAM G scheme in Kinnal and Kalakeri Gram Panchayats of Koppal taluk, providing much-needed local employment to rural workers during drought conditions.
The work at Budashetnal Lake aims to support families while improving local water resources and reducing the need for migration.
Kinnal Gram Panchayat Development Officer Parameshwarayya Telagadematha visited the worksite and said the scheme aims to provide up to 125 days of wage employment to each family. The programme covers both community and individual works, with equal wages for men and women. Water conservation, irrigation, groundwater recharge, watershed development and restoration of water resources have been given special attention.
District IEC Coordinator Srinivas Chitragara said the scheme is being implemented through an online and transparent system. He urged workers to understand the programme and use its benefits. The current wage is Rs. 382 per person per day, with payment based on the quantity of work completed according to prescribed measurements.
During visits to the worksites, officials interacted with workers, encouraged more women to participate and checked N.M.M.S. attendance records. Taluk IEC Coordinator Devaraja Pattara and other officials also reviewed the ongoing work and explained the scheme’s benefits. Officials said community participation is essential for achieving the goal of stronger Gram Panchayats and a developed India. The lake work is expected to provide income while improving water availability for local communities.
