Karnataka schools will remain open on Thursday, August 13, despite a bandh called over the Cauvery water dispute with Tamil Nadu. The Karnataka Associated Managements of Schools (KAMS) withdrew its closure call, saying educating students about the issue is preferable to disrupting classes. Closures could affect academic schedules, especially as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise has reduced class hours, with teachers deputed for voter list revision. KAMS expressed moral support for the bandh and asked schools to show solidarity by wearing black ribbons or black stripes as a symbolic protest against the directive to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
