The Karnataka bandh called for August 13 over the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu is receiving mixed support from Kannada organizations. Vatal Nagaraj-led groups, including the Dr. Rajkumar Fans Association, Kannada Sena and Kannada Jagruthi Vedike, are supporting the protest. However, the Narayana Gowda and Shivaramagowda factions of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, private transport unions, farmers’ organizations and most auto unions are not supporting the bandh. KSRTC, BMTC and metro services are expected to operate normally. Schools, colleges, hospitals, shops, hotels, government offices and industries are also expected to remain open. Some private-school and hotel associations have extended only moral support to the bandh.
