A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report has widened the Kamakshipalya police investigation into alleged threats to a key witness in the Renukaswamy murder case, with investigators examining the possible involvement of additional persons.
Sandeep, identified as the 49th witness in the murder case, had allegedly received threats, following which police arrested Puneeth, Suhas and Venu in connection with the incident.
According to the investigation, the FSL findings have prompted police to examine the alleged roles of Gaurav Shetty and Kiran. Investigators are also examining communications between those allegedly involved.
Police are looking into an alleged call received by Puneeth from an influential woman before the incident. She allegedly instructed him to follow directions given by Gaurav Shetty. The identity and role of the woman are yet to be established.
Investigators have also examined a WhatsApp conference call involving Puneeth, Kiran and Gaurav Shetty. Police are examining whether the call was connected to the alleged kidnapping and threatening of Sakshi Sandeep.
The FSL findings have expanded the scope of the inquiry beyond the three persons initially arrested. Kamakshipalya police are awaiting another technical report, which is expected to provide additional information about the communications and alleged involvement of others.
Police are likely to consider further legal action against Gaurav Shetty and Kiran after examining the pending report and other evidence.
The allegations remain part of an ongoing investigation, and the roles of the individuals being examined have not been conclusively established.
