Former Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has urged the Karnataka government to provide ₹100 crore as seed money to the Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board for the comprehensive development of the Brahmin community.
Rao was speaking after launching the 2026–27 Sandipani Scholarship Scheme at an event organised by the board in Bengaluru. He said several welfare programmes implemented by the board have benefited economically disadvantaged members of the community and welcomed the growing number of beneficiaries.
Rao also appreciated the board’s loan recovery performance, noting that its recovery rate has crossed 98 per cent. He said stronger financial support would enable the board to expand its programmes and reach more beneficiaries.
The Sandipani Scholarship Scheme is aimed at helping economically disadvantaged Brahmin students pursue higher education. Board Chairman Asagodu Jayasimha said students studying in First and Second PUC and general degree courses will receive ₹15,000 annually towards maintenance expenses.
For students pursuing professional courses through CET, NEET and other entrance examinations, the board will reimburse two-thirds of the admission fee, he said.
Board Managing Director Deepashree K. explained the scholarship scheme and eligibility requirements. Non-official directors P.M. Malatesh, C.N. Nagesh and Kashyap Nandan, along with official directors Shobha H.A. and Kalavathi S.N., attended the programme.
