The action started after Welsh Fire chose to field first, a decision that quickly backfired. Marsh and Rickelton walked out to open the innings and went all guns blazing from the very first ball. They put together an explosive 89-run partnership that completely stunned the opposition bowlers. Rickelton played a fearless knock of 40 runs from just 22 balls, hitting three boundaries and three huge sixes. This fiery innings pushed his total career T20 runs past the impressive milestone of 5,000.
At the other end, Mitchell Marsh played like a true champion. He smashed 50 runs from 34 deliveries, featuring five fours and three maximums. With this brilliant half-century, the hard-hitting Australian crossed the landmark of 7,000 runs in his T20 career. Both players have been in great form throughout the tournament, consistently dominating bowling attacks.
Following their strong start, other batters kept the momentum going. Harry Brook added a quick 23, captain Zak Crawley chipped in with a rapid 34 featuring four huge sixes, and Dan Lawrence finished strong with an unbeaten 29. Together, they posted a massive total of 201 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 100 balls.
Defending such a big target requires discipline, and the Sunrisers bowlers delivered. Welsh Fire struggled during their chase and managed only 130 runs for six wickets. Matthew Short tried his best with 43 runs, and Joe Root added 31, but tight bowling kept them far behind. Brydon Carse led the bowling attack for Leeds with three quick wickets, sealing a comfortable win.
