Karnataka BJP president B Y Vijayendra accused the Congress government of neglecting farmers’ problems and alleged that the state administration had failed to take adequate measures to address difficulties faced by the farming community.
Speaking to reporters, Vijayendra said farmers across Karnataka were dealing with several challenges, including inadequate rainfall, crop losses and difficulties related to agricultural activities. He alleged that the government had failed to provide timely relief and support despite being aware of the situation in several parts of the state.
Vijayendra criticised the Congress government for what he described as a lack of seriousness towards farmers. He said the government had made several promises during elections but had not fulfilled its commitments to the agricultural community.
He alleged that farmers were facing increasing financial pressure because of crop losses and rising cultivation costs. According to him, the government should immediately assess crop damage, provide appropriate compensation and take steps to ensure adequate irrigation and other essential support.
The BJP leader also urged the government to address issues related to agricultural loans and ensure that farmers received the benefits of government schemes without unnecessary delays. He said officials should conduct field-level assessments instead of relying solely on reports submitted from offices.
Vijayendra maintained that farmers should receive assistance irrespective of political considerations and called for a comprehensive plan to protect their livelihoods. He said the BJP would continue to raise farmers’ concerns and question the government on its response to the agricultural crisis.
He also urged the state administration to coordinate with district officials and agriculture departments to identify areas requiring immediate intervention. According to him, timely action was essential to prevent farmers from suffering further losses.
Vijayendra said the government must move beyond announcements and ensure that relief measures actually reach affected farmers. He called for greater transparency in the implementation of agricultural programmes and demanded that the Congress government demonstrate its commitment to the farming community through concrete action.
