PML-N leader wins PoK polls amid probe

London

Former Pakistani state minister Rukhsar Ahmed, a leader of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has reportedly won a Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) Assembly election despite remaining on police bail in the United Kingdom. Ahmed was arrested in July 2024 over allegations of raping vulnerable girls and trafficking children linked to Manchester grooming gang investigations. Reports said he missed a scheduled UK bail appearance, claiming illness, but was seen campaigning in PoK. British authorities may seek his arrest or extradition if he fails to comply with bail conditions. The case has intensified UK-Pakistan tensions over extradition and deportation issues.
