Chief Minister unveils green vision, invites citizens to Lalbagh flower show celebrations.

Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Thursday announced plans to develop three Lalbagh-style gardens across Bengaluru, saying the initiative is aimed at preserving the city’s green cover while enhancing public spaces and improving the quality of urban life.
Speaking after inaugurating the 220th Lalbagh Flower Show, themed “Glory of the Ganga Dynasty” as part of the Independence Day celebrations, Shivakumar said the government has written to the Defence Ministry seeking permission to develop one of the parks on Defence land in Bengaluru. He added that the remaining two parks are proposed on forest land within the city after consultations with the Forest Department.
The Chief Minister said agencies such as the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) and the Horticulture Department would be entrusted with implementing the ambitious project.
Describing Lalbagh as a symbol of Karnataka’s rich heritage, Shivakumar invited citizens to visit the 10-day flower show, which showcases the legacy of the Ganga dynasty through elaborate floral displays celebrating the region’s culture, agriculture and history.
The Chief Minister also announced that the government would unveil a Farmer-Government Partnership Programme on August 15 to increase green cover and strengthen farmers’ livelihoods as part of a 100-day governance initiative.
Responding to questions on Congress affairs, Shivakumar dismissed speculation of internal differences, stating that all party legislators were capable of becoming ministers but constitutional limits allowed only 33 ministerial berths despite the Congress having 140 MLAs and 40 MLCs.
