The South Western Railway has issued a strict warning against throwing garbage and waste on railway property. Officials stated that anyone caught dumping trash near the tracks will face heavy fines and tough legal action.
To tackle this growing issue, authorities have started a major cleanup campaign across the city. This special drive runs in partnership with local civic bodies to clear all accumulated waste along the tracks over the next two months.
Rail officials highlighted that dumped trash poses serious risks to train operations. Recently, fires starting in garbage piles have burned vital electrical and signaling cables, causing sudden train delays. Furthermore, endless littering along busy routes like Bengaluru to Mysore and Bengaluru to Hosur hides railway boundaries, leading to illegal land grabbing.
Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna stressed that protecting railway land is a top priority. Security teams will keep a close watch on vulnerable spots to stop people from dumping waste again. Officials hope these new rules and regular monitoring will keep the tracks safe and clean for daily commuters. The railway department urges everyone to cooperate and keep the city clean. People must understand that safe train journeys depend heavily on clean surroundings.
