Police have filed a criminal case against former Karnataka Public Service Commission chairman Shivashankarappa S. Sahukar and several others following serious cheating allegations. Unsuccessful candidates lodged a formal complaint pointing out massive corruption in the recent recruitment drive for veterinary officers.
The controversy erupted after officials published the final selection list for four hundred veterinary posts. Aspirants noticed that close relatives of top commission members and staff surprisingly secured the highest ranks. Many selected individuals suddenly scored over four hundred marks despite having only average academic records in their veterinary degrees, while top performers from other competitive exams lagged far behind.
Investigators are probing deep into how the cheating allegedly took place. According to the complaint, middlemen smuggled select candidates into hotels and resorts in other states just before the exams. These agents reportedly gave them answer keys and trained them beforehand. Furthermore, some candidates allegedly left most OMR sheet circles blank during the test, raising strong suspicions that answer sheets were altered later.
Whistleblowers also provided audio and video proof showing agents demanding up to eighty lakh rupees per candidate to guarantee jobs. The complaint reveals that personal data and marks were leaked directly from within the commission. Authorities have registered an FIR at the Vidhana Soudha police station and launched a full investigation to uncover all officials and middlemen involved in the scam.
