District Collector Dr. Kumar has instructed local officials to complete all necessary preparations for celebrating the upcoming 79th Independence Day. Presiding over a preparatory meeting at his office, he stressed that the national festival on August 15 should be observed in a meaningful, disciplined, and grand manner.
Dr. Kumar highlighted that Independence Day represents national pride, encouraging students, residents, and social organizations to attend in large numbers to honor the national flag. Plans are underway to host a grand parade at the district stadium. Organized contingents from the police force, home guards, scouts, guides, NCC, NSS, and local student teams will participate.
Cultural programs will showcase patriotic dances and songs that honor freedom fighters while promoting national unity. Outstanding student performers will receive special encouragement and recognition. Additionally, government buildings and public landmarks across the district will feature bright decorative lighting on the night of August 14.
Addressing environmental safety, Dr. Kumar strictly banned plastic national flags. Municipal authorities must immediately stop the sale and use of plastic flags, urging citizens to purchase only paper or cloth alternatives instead.
Officials were directed to arrange complete infrastructure at the stadium venue, including safe drinking water, clean toilets, comfortable seating, parking, emergency medical care, fire safety, and security. Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer K.R. Nandini and Police Superintendent Dr. V.J. Shobharani were present at the meeting to support the district’s grand annual patriotic event, ensuring a memorable experience for all citizens.
