Updating the current Solids-Not-Fat (SNF) quality benchmark is key to empowering rural milk cooperatives, stated H.G. Hiregaudra, Director of Karnataka State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (KMF). He spoke at a specialized executive training workshop held today at the Veterinary Polyclinic in Gadag.
Addressing dairy leaders, Hiregaudra emphasized that adjusting the standard SNF 8.5 and fat 3.5 quality formula across Karnataka will boost organizational progress and fair profits.
Dr. H.B. Hulaganna, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry, praised dairy farmers for delivering essential services from herd to consumer. Meanwhile, meeting Chairman S.K. Kuradagi noted that rural women’s cooperative milk units play a crucial role in empowering weaker economic sections.
Expert speakers delivered sessions covering livestock disease control, clean milk production, and fodder management. Prominent attendees included Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. H. Honninayakar and District Cooperative Union CEO Chandrashekar S. Kariappa, alongside local dairy representatives who pledged to strengthen community-level milk production network across the district.
