Patil said Karnataka approved ₹23,000 crore semiconductor investments, creating 3,500+ engineering jobs, with global firms and MSME supply chain integration boosting industry growth

A 200-acre Semiconductor Park in Phase I of KWIN City is expected to become operational by December this year, Minister M.B. Patil said on Thursday. He announced the development during the inauguration of the 15th Strategic Electronics Summit-2026, held in Bengaluru. Karnataka’s focus on advanced electronics will include aerospace, defence, software and space technology clusters.
Patil said the state approved investments worth Rs 23,000 crore in semiconductor and Electronics System Design and Manufacturing sectors two years ago. These projects are expected to create over 3,500 skilled engineering jobs. Applied Materials India, Lam Research and Bharat Semi Systems are investing in Karnataka to strengthen the industry. The government will also connect MSMEs with global semiconductor supply chains and support wider growth opportunities.
He said Karnataka’s vision goes beyond manufacturing as companies should complete the value chain from design to testing, certification and exports within the state. The minister invited industries to use Karnataka’s strong research, deep-tech and Global Capability Centre ecosystem for future investments. Bengaluru has more than 100 chip design companies working on advanced technologies, including 3-nanometre chip designs that highlight the state’s growing semiconductor strength and global importance today.
During the summit, Patil released the ELCINA Report-26 and unveiled the book Wings of Astra on drones and emerging technologies. Industry leaders including C-DOT CEO Dr Rajkumar Upadhyay, BEL Chairman Manoj Jain and DRDO representatives shared views on strategic electronics growth. The event highlighted Karnataka’s commitment to innovation and investment while aiming to make the state a leading hub for semiconductor development and advanced electronic systems in India and globally.
