The Karnataka government will begin a mega recruitment drive for more than 70,000 vacant posts across various departments from August onwards. The state has announced the schedule for police recruitment written examinations as part of the first phase, with officials promising a transparent and fair selection process for all candidates.
A high-level meeting was held under the leadership of Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Rajender Kumar Kataria to review preparations for conducting the examinations without corruption or unfair practices. Written exams for 7,905 police constable posts will be held in August and September. The Civil Police Constable exam for 3,991 posts will take place on August 12, while Armed Police Constable exams for 1,600 posts are scheduled on September 7. Special Police Constable exams for 2,314 posts will be conducted on September 20.
Officials said strict action will be taken against anyone involved in malpractice, including question paper leaks, impersonation or misuse of electronic devices. Cyber Crime units and intelligence teams have been directed to monitor online platforms and prevent organised cheating attempts under the Karnataka Public Examinations Act, 2023.
The government has instructed district authorities, police commissioners and superintendents of police to ensure strong security at examination centres. Arrangements will include safe movement of confidential materials, traffic control and emergency response systems. Senior officials, including DGP Umesh Kumar and KEA Executive Director Prasanna, attended the meeting. Authorities assured candidates that upcoming exams will be conducted with complete transparency, giving every eligible applicant a fair opportunity to succeed.
