Commuters face higher travel costs as the National Highways Authority of India recently increased toll charges on the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway.

Motorists using the popular expressway between Bengaluru and Mysore face another financial blow as toll charges have been quietly hiked. The National Highways Authority of India introduced this latest revision, marking the second toll increase for commuters within a single calendar year.
The revised charges apply directly to the Kaniminiki and Seshagirihalli toll plazas located along the busy Bengaluru to Nidaghatta stretch. Toll fees for various vehicles have gone up between five and thirty-five rupees per trip.
The sudden decision has sparked widespread anger among daily commuters and commercial drivers, who already experienced a price hike earlier on April 1. Many travelers expressed deep frustration over rising travel costs, accusing the highway authority of overburdening vehicle owners without sufficient advance notice.
With travel expenses climbing steadily, public pressure is mounting on authorities to review the frequent toll revisions. Commuters fear these repeated price hikes will increase overall transportation costs across Karnataka, adding a heavy burden on local businesses and regular highway travelers alike.
Breakdown of the new toll rates:
- Cars and Jeeps: Increased to ₹185 from the previous ₹180 fee.
- Light Commercial Vehicles: Raised to ₹295 from the earlier ₹285 rate.
- Buses and Trucks: Upwardly revised to ₹620 from the former ₹600 charge.
- Commercial Vehicles: Increased to ₹675, up from the prior ₹655 amount.
- Heavy Vehicles: Hiked to ₹970 from the old ₹940 baseline.
- High Axle Vehicles: Raised significantly to ₹1,180 from ₹1,145 per single journey.
