The State Muslim Alliance has demanded that the Congress-led state government immediately fulfil ten major promises made during the 2023 assembly election campaign. Speaking at a press conference at the Bengaluru Press Club, Alliance Convener Suhail Ahmed Marur urged the administration to take swift action on key pledges as it completes three years in power.
The alliance outlined critical demands, including the restoration of 2B reservation benefits, strict legal action against hate speech, amendments to the Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act, and the repeal of the Prohibition of Conversion Act. Furthermore, the alliance called for implementing the caste survey report, allocating 10,000 crore rupees for minority development, protecting waqf properties, ensuring proportionate political representation, providing educational support, and formulating a political strategy regarding the Special Summary Revision process.
To pressure the government, the alliance launched a statewide campaign running from July 20 through August 5. Co-convener Yahya Damudi stated that community leaders, ulemas, and local organizations will submit demand books to MLAs across districts, distribute informative pamphlets at mosques following Friday prayers, collect public signatures, and partner with Christian and farmer groups to present joint appeals. Following the state-wide outreach campaign, the alliance plans to hold major regional public conferences in Davanagere and Mangaluru to review government progress. Alliance leaders urged state authorities to honor their commitments promptly to preserve community trust and ensure equitable development for all citizens across Karnataka.
