Rural Development Minister Ishwar B. Khandre announced state measures to handle severe rainfall deficits affecting 178 taluks across Karnataka. To combat rural distress, the government released Rs 117 crore for drinking water management, permitting local authorities to drill borewells or hire private water tankers. Additionally, the government aims to generate 10 lakh man-days of employment under rural job schemes by month-end to support affected villagers. Emphasizing that drinking water and employment remain top priorities, Khandre urged farmers facing financial hardship not to lose hope, assuring them of full government support during this crisis.
