A total of 2,52,570 voter enumeration forms have been distributed under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls in Vijayapura City Assembly constituency, with 76,777 forms digitised so far.
Vijayapura City Corporation Commissioner Vijay Mekkalaki shared the progress during a meeting with representatives of political parties at the Corporation Hall. He said 1,979 voters had submitted their enumeration forms online, while officials identified cases involving voters who were unavailable, permanently shifted, deceased, already registered or falling under other categories.
The Commissioner said around 87 per cent of voters had been covered through door-to-door distribution. For those yet to receive forms, voter identity details and contact information are being collected and shared with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to complete the process.
Political party representatives raised concerns over cases of individuals holding multiple voter identity cards and urged authorities to verify such instances. Officials warned that knowingly providing false information or retaining multiple voter IDs could invite action under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, including imprisonment, fine or both.
Mekkalaki said Booth Level Agents appointed by political parties would provide daily feedback, while BLOs would conduct spot verifications and prepare inspection reports before further action.
The meeting also reviewed polling arrangements. Vijayapura City constituency has 285 polling stations, of which 72 have more than 1,200 voters. Authorities decided to recommend redistribution of voters and seek approval for additional booths wherever required.
