NEW DELHI
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is set to head a high-level Indian business delegation on an extensive five-day tour of Spain, Belgium, and Finland. The critical diplomatic mission aims to significantly deepen India’s economic ties with Europe by securing fresh foreign investments, expanding bilateral trade, and fostering technological innovation.
The elite Indian delegation features top executives from cutting-edge sectors, including advanced manufacturing, clean energy, artificial intelligence, healthcare, and digital technologies. According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the primary goal of this trip is to secure robust business-to-business partnerships and explore unexplored collaborative ventures with European industrial giants.
The official tour will start in Spain on July 13, perfectly aligning with the ongoing Spain-India Dual Year 2026, which celebrates seventy years of successful diplomatic relations. Goyal will participate in a major business roundtable in Madrid alongside top corporate leaders. Discussions will focus on automotive engineering, semiconductors, and tourism. Major Spanish firms like Iberdrola and Talgo already operate in India, while Indian tech giants like TCS and Infosys are actively expanding their footprints across Spain.
On July 14 and 15, the delegation will travel to Belgium to address the India-EU Business Roundtable and the Trade and Technology Council Plenary. Goyal plans to visit the strategic Port of Antwerp to analyze advanced green logistics and resilient supply chain management. Additionally, the minister has scheduled high-stakes, CEO-level meetings with senior executives from the global defense and tech giant Thales Group.
The final leg of the European tour will take the delegation to Finland on July 16 and 17. Goyal will lead the India-Finland Business Roundtable to engage with pioneering Finnish companies specializing in the circular economy, sustainable technologies, and next-generation digitalization. By building these cross-border alliances, India hopes to accelerate its domestic industrial growth while offering European corporations lucrative access to one of the world’s fastest-growing consumer markets.
