Mumbai’s Shanmukhananda Hall hosted a star-studded Diamond Jubilee concert celebrating Hema Malini’s 60-year career, which also paid a touching posthumous tribute to Dharmendra.

Mumbai’s iconic Shanmukhananda Hall transformed into a celebration of pure Bollywood nostalgia. The film fraternity gathered for the Hema Malini – Live in Concert event to celebrate the legendary “Dream Girl’s” Diamond Jubilee, marking her extraordinary 60 years in Indian cinema. The grand charity event also doubled as a deeply emotional posthumous tribute to her late husband and frequent on-screen co-star, Dharmendra.

Reflecting on their decades-long journey together, Hema Malini recalled her husband’s final wishes for the family and his unwavering support. She shared how he always encouraged her to keep dancing, creating, and engaging with the public, even when she took on fewer film projects. She noted that he always wanted the family to remain firmly united.

Visibly moved by the grand musical tributes playing around her, the actress-turned-politician also reflected on recently accepting the prestigious Padma Vibhushan, which was conferred posthumously upon Dharmendra in recognition of his monumental contribution to arts and culture. She told the audience that as she walked onto the stage to receive the honor on his behalf, she could strongly feel his presence guiding and supporting her.

The evening featured a massive 15-piece live orchestra meticulously recreating timeless musical melodies from across her six-decade career. In one of the night’s biggest highlights, the veteran actress took the stage to sing live and share behind-the-scenes anecdotes from legendary blockbusters like Sholay and Seeta Aur Geeta.

The star-studded red carpet welcomed several of Indian cinema’s biggest icons and closest friends, including Jeetendra, Shatrughan Sinha, Rakesh Roshan, Ramesh Sippy, Subhash Ghai, Sanjay Khan, and Javed Akhtar, who were collectively honored as the “Diamonds of Indian Cinema.” The musical celebration was brought to life by legendary playback singers Anu Malik, Suresh Wadkar, Sudesh Bhosle, Anup Jalota, and Kavita Krishnamurti, while Union Cabinet Minister Kiren Rijiju attended as the evening’s chief guest.
