Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton completed a successful 200-kilometer test run at Madrid’s new Madring circuit ahead of September’s Spanish Grand Prix.
MADRID
Madrid’s brand-new Formula 1 circuit, the Madring, just hit a massive milestone. For the very first time, actual modern F1 cars roared down the track. Even though the venue is still a busy construction zone, the sounds of racing engines proved that the dream of bringing a Grand Prix here is rapidly becoming a reality.
The iconic Ferrari team took over the unfinished circuit for an official filming day. Both superstar drivers, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, got behind the wheel of their sleek SF-26 cars. Together, they smoothly completed the maximum allowed distance of 200 kilometers.
This special event was about much more than just capturing cool video footage. It gave the local organizers a perfect chance to test the track under real race conditions. Ferrari brought in all their heavy equipment, set up garage procedures, and ran full trackside logistics just like they would during a normal competitive weekend.
Excitingly, officials reported absolutely no major problems during the test runs. This success brings a huge sigh of relief to the development team, even as workers continue to build the grandstands, fan zones, and surrounding infrastructure.
With this major checkpoint successfully crossed, the Madring enters its final phase of preparation. Fans do not have much longer to wait to see the action live. The track is officially scheduled to host its very first Spanish Grand Prix later this year, from September 11 to 13.
