Kudlu Falls in Hebri taluk has been temporarily closed to tourists after heavy monsoon rains made the area highly dangerous. The popular waterfall, which drops nearly 150 feet over rocky terrain, is currently flowing with strong force due to continuous rainfall in the coastal region.
Authorities said the decision was taken as a precautionary safety measure after water levels rose sharply and surrounding rocks became extremely slippery. The Forest Department has restricted access by installing gates and deploying staff to prevent visitors from entering the premises.
Officials noted that while Kudlu Falls is a major tourist attraction known for its scenic beauty during the monsoon season, it also poses serious risks during peak rainfall. Sudden water surges, hidden depths, and unstable rock surfaces increase the chances of accidents, especially when large crowds gather at the site.
In recent years, the waterfall has gained significant attention on social media, drawing increasing numbers of tourists. However, authorities have repeatedly warned that the location becomes hazardous during heavy rains and requires strict caution.
Forest personnel are currently monitoring the area and ensuring that no visitors enter restricted zones. Warning boards have also been placed around the site to alert the public about the dangers.
Local officials have urged tourists and residents to cooperate with the temporary ban and avoid attempting to visit the falls until weather conditions improve and safety checks are completed. They emphasized that the restriction is necessary to prevent any untoward incidents during the ongoing monsoon season.
The ban will remain in effect until rainfall reduces and the site is declared safe for public access.
