NEW DELHI
India has achieved a massive digital milestone by generating over 26.35 crore verified APAAR IDs across the nation. This revolutionary step comes under the central government’s ambitious ‘One Nation, One Student ID’ initiative, creating a unified academic identity for learners nationwide.
The APAAR ID is a unique 12-digit student identification number. It seamlessly links to the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) system and can be easily accessed through DigiLocker. This digital vault safely brings together a student’s entire educational history, including school results, higher education, and vocational training records, onto a single secure platform. This student-friendly initiative aligns perfectly with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to offer unmatched educational freedom. “Our main focus is building a flexible, trusted digital ecosystem that makes education highly accessible for every learner,” officials stated.
The biggest relief is for students who face financial or personal emergencies and are forced to pause their studies mid-way. Instead of losing their academic progress completely, their hard-earned points stay locked in the digital vault. When they decide to return to their education, they can instantly redeem these credits to pick up exactly where they left off. By connecting universities, schools, and skill hubs, India is transforming into a connected, highly transparent educational superpower.
