Gadag
Former Chief Minister and Haveri Gadag Lok Sabha MP Basavaraj Bommai expressed strong displeasure over delays in MPLADS development works during a review meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner office hall in Gadag district.
He reviewed 35 works sanctioned under MPLADS funds for 2024-25 and 2025-26 and found that only 8 works have been completed so far, while several others are still pending at different stages of approval and execution.
He strongly criticised officials for delay in preparing estimates and submitting proposals for 11 works and said that 16 works have not yet received second instalment clearance due to lack of progress reports and documents.
The MP directed officials to resolve technical issues related to RTC, property records, e-Swathu and building permissions immediately and submit a comprehensive progress report within one week. He warned that if required documents for five major works are not provided on time, the funds will be cancelled and diverted to other priority projects. He also instructed that land documents and NOCs for stalled works like cremation sheds, Ambedkar Bhavans and community halls must be processed without delay. He emphasised that all development works must be updated on the Darpan Portal with accurate details and GPS data regularly.
Deputy Commissioner C N Sridhar assured that the district administration will strictly implement all instructions and ensure timely completion of pending works. He said no department can delay public projects citing technical reasons and warned of disciplinary action against negligent officers. He directed coordination with Nirmiti Kendra to streamline estimates and approvals and instructed all officials to meet the one week deadline without fail. Senior officers including MLC S V Sankanur, Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Durgesh K R and other department heads attended the meeting.
The meeting concluded with a warning that further delays will not be tolerated and accountability will be fixed on concerned officials for any lapses in implementation of MPLADS works across the district.
