Heavy pre-monsoon and monsoon rains have caused extensive damage to Mangaluru Electricity Supply Company Limited (Mescom), resulting in losses of Rs 15.38 crore between April and July. The utility reported damage to 10,458 electric poles, 42 transformers, and 288 km of power lines. Dakshina Kannada and Chikkamagaluru recorded the highest financial losses. Officials expect damages to rise as the monsoon continues. The district administration has activated a control room and emergency helpline to ensure quick assistance for residents affected by rain-related disasters across the region.
