Taluk Planning Officer Mahesh said that protecting nature is everyone’s duty.
He spoke at a social afforestation program held in Sulanayakanahalli village of Pavagada taluk. The program was organized by the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project. He planted saplings in the temple premises and inaugurated the event.
Mahesh said planting trees should not stop after planting alone.
They must be watered and cared for every day to grow well.
He added that the project is running many programs for environmental protection. So far, eight lakes have been desilted under this initiative.
Tree planting and awareness programs are also being conducted in villages.
Several officials, swamiji, farmers and villagers attended the event.
The officer highlighted that community participation is key for protecting environment. He urged people to avoid cutting trees and support green initiatives.
