Lovely Star Prem Kumar shares career journey

From daily wage laborer to “Lovely Star,” Prem Kumar reinvents his career playing Nadaprabhu Kempegowda in Kempambudhi.

Celebrating nearly twenty-five years in the Kannada film industry, popular actor Prem Kumar recently shared inspiring reflections on his cinematic journey. Famously known as “Lovely Star” after delivering classic romantic blockbusters like Nenapirali, the versatile actor opened up about his humble beginnings. Before achieving stardom, Prem worked as a daily wage laborer to rescue his family from a severe financial crisis, yet he always maintained a positive, confident attitude.

The actor revealed that even during his toughest days of hard manual labor, local people would complain to his father that his son walked around with the proud attitude of a movie hero. Prem credits this mindset for helping him manifest his dream reality. However, after decades of playing sweet romantic leads, he admitted he grew thoroughly bored of the stereotype and deeply craved a challenging image makeover.

Fortunately, that major shift has arrived with his upcoming historical film Kempambudhi, directed beautifully by Ramesh Begar. Prem will be portraying the legendary founder of Bengaluru, Nadaprabhu Kempegowda. To prepare for the epic role, the actor visited Kempegowda’s historic grave site, noting that modern engineers could learn invaluable lessons from the ancient ruler’s flawless water management and social vision.

Beyond acting, Prem has now become a passionate advocate for reviving Bengaluru’s lost lakes and cleaning up city trash. He strongly urges citizens to protect the environment as a true tribute to the historical leader. The actor hopes this massive pan-India project will inspire audiences nationwide while marking a glorious new milestone in his career.
