Tech alliance: Japan drives Indian job boom

NEW DELHI

Japan has become the top contributor to India’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) ecosystem within the Asia-Pacific region. Reports reveals that Japanese companies have already set up more than 100 of these specialized hubs across the country to drive global corporate innovation.

These centers are rapidly transforming into vital setups for high-tech engineering, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and advanced digital manufacturing. Experts note that India perfectly combines massive scale, top-tier engineering talent, and digital expertise, making it a highly attractive destination for major Japanese enterprises looking to grow.

This booming partnership is projected to generate a massive $470 billion to $600 billion economic impact by 2030, contributing up to 2.8 percent to India’s GDP. While large metros hold the majority of these hubs, the next phase of expansion is moving into smaller, upcoming cities like Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Coimbatore, Kochi, and Indore due to cheaper costs and supportive local government policies.

The current setup shows a heavy focus on technical industries. Technology firms make up 20 percent of the footprint, followed closely by industrial manufacturing, automotive brands, and healthcare companies.

This corporate rush is heavily backed by strong political ties, including a massive 10 trillion yen investment commitment between the two nations. Moving forward, the relationship will evolve beyond basic backend support, shifting toward deep research and development, cutting-edge innovation, and long-term strategic growth that benefits both economies.
