Australia’s financial crime watchdog, AUSTRAC, announced that online betting giant Sportsbet has successfully fixed its serious anti-money laundering flaws. The company faced heavy scrutiny two years ago for weak customer monitoring and poor risk checks. Following an independent audit, officials confirmed that Sportsbet upgraded its internal security systems to properly combat illegal money tracking. While Sportsbet declined to comment on the announcement, the watchdog warned it will keep a very close eye on the fast-growing online gambling industry, which remains highly attractive to tech-savvy criminals seeking to hide dirty cash.
