An artistic installation developed under the special grant of Shivamogga City MLA S. N. Channabasappa was inaugurated and opened for public viewing on Sir M. Visvesvaraya Road near the statue of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to combine infrastructure development with cultural beautification projects.
Speaking at the inauguration, MLA Channabasappa said that transforming Shivamogga into a culturally vibrant and aesthetically pleasing “garden city” remains one of the key priorities of the administration along with improving basic urban infrastructure. He said that beautification of major roads, junctions and public spaces will enhance the city’s identity and civic pride.
The newly installed artwork has been developed as part of a broader programme undertaken by the municipal corporation to upgrade prominent circles and roadside spaces with artistic and thematic designs. Officials stated that such installations are intended not only to improve the visual appeal of the city but also to promote awareness of its cultural and historical significance.
The MLA also instructed municipal officials to ensure regular cleanliness around the installation site and proper maintenance of street lighting, especially during night hours, to preserve the aesthetic value and safety of the area. He emphasized that continuous upkeep is essential for sustaining the benefits of such urban beautification projects.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Legislative Council member D. S. Arun, BJP district president Jagadish, city president Mohan Reddy, and former Deputy Chief Minister K. S. Eshwarappa. Renowned sculptor Jeevan, along with representatives of local civic bodies, trade organisations, engineering associations, and community groups, also participated in the event.
Officials noted that the project is expected to encourage further development of public art installations across Shivamogga, contributing to a more attractive and well-planned urban landscape for residents and visitors alike.
