Nitte inaugurates induction programme for first-year btech students

The induction programme for the 2026–27 batch of first-year BTech students at the Nitte Mahalinga Adyanthaya Memorial Institute of Technology (NMAMIT), a constituent institution of Nitte (Deemed to be University), was inaugurated at the university’s newly built amphitheatre on Thursday. The event welcomed newly admitted students and their parents, marking the beginning of the new academic year.

Addressing the gathering, Pro-Chancellor Dr. M. Shantharam Shetty urged students to continuously develop skills aligned with industry requirements to enhance their employability. He emphasised that technical education should be complemented by physical fitness, mental well-being, sports and cultural activities for holistic development. He also advised students to remain vigilant against negative influences and substance abuse while pursuing their academic goals.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. M. S. Moodithaya highlighted the importance of preparing students for an increasingly competitive global environment. He encouraged them to embrace innovation, lifelong learning and professional excellence throughout their academic journey.

Vice-President (Technical Education) Prof. Dr. Gopal Mugeraya briefed students and parents about the history, growth and achievements of the Nitte educational institutions, outlining the university’s commitment to quality technical education and research.

Registrar Dr. Harsha Halahalli and Controller of Examinations Dr. Prasad B. Shetty were present on the dais. NMAMIT Principal Dr. Niranjan N. Chiplunkar welcomed the gathering, while Student Induction Programme Coordinator Dr. Joy Martis proposed the vote of thanks. Assistant Professor Premita Kamath from the MCA Department compered the programme.

During the event, the annual college magazine ‘Nidarshan 2026’ was also released. Following the inaugural session, Dr. Chiplunkar addressed the new students, explaining the growth of the Nitte group of institutions and familiarising them with the academic policies, values and culture of the institute. The induction programme is aimed at helping fresh entrants smoothly transition into engineering education and campus life.
