Google lost its final gamble to dodge a massive four billion euro antitrust fine. Europe’s highest court rejected the tech giant’s appeal, ruling that Google unfairly used its Android operating system to crush competitors. Back in 2018, officials found that Google forced phone makers to install its search engine and Chrome browser to access the Play Store. Google argued the decision ignores its large investments into keeping Android free and open. However, judges stood firm, marking a historic victory for fair market competition. Google stated it already changed its rules to comply with European trade laws.
