Haleangadi
In Haleangadi, a training workshop was organized under the initiative of the Department of Cooperation, focusing on the role of directors and staff in managing cooperative societies effectively. The event was held as part of the “Cooperative Week” celebrations marking five years of the central cooperative department’s activities.
The program was inaugurated by Dr. Aikala Bava Deviprasad Shetty, director of the Dakshina Kannada District Central Cooperative Bank Federation and the Karnataka Milk Federation, Bengaluru. In his address, he emphasized that honesty, trustworthiness, and community-oriented principles are essential for the sustainable growth of cooperative institutions.
He noted that cooperatives thrive when they uphold transparency and serve the interests of their members. According to him, strong ethical practices and collective responsibility form the foundation of long-lasting success in the cooperative sector.
The workshop was organized by the Haleangadi Priyadarshini Cooperative Society under the guidance of the district cooperation department. It was conducted at Hari Om Hall, Moolki taluk, bringing together directors and staff from various cooperative institutions.
Special guest Y. Sudhir Kumar, president of Padubidri Vyavasaya Seva Cooperative Society, also addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of strengthening grassroots cooperative movements. The session was presided over by Vasant Bernad, president of the Haleangadi Priyadarshini Cooperative Society.
Resource person Sridhar P.S., a cooperative trainer and advocate from Kundapura, conducted the training session and explained best practices in cooperative management and governance.
The program began with a prayer by Neetu Niranjal and concluded with a vote of thanks by executive officer Sudarshan. Accountant Lolakshi served as the master of ceremonies.
Officials and participants collectively stressed that cooperative societies play a vital role in rural development, financial inclusion, and community empowerment when guided by trust-based operations and responsible leadership.
