Block Congress President K. Krishnamurthy said that rural development is being given top priority in the taluk, with several road and drinking water projects worth crores of rupees taken up with different departments.
Speaking after inspecting bridge works near Chikkamaskal village, he said a bridge is being built by KRDCL at a cost of about Rs 10 crore for better travel to Kanakapura and Bengaluru. He said drinking water projects are planned using YG Hill and Manchanabele reservoirs, with pipelines carrying purified water to villages and towns in the region.
Under MLA H.C. Balakrishna leadership, the scheme aims to supply clean water to around 20 to 30 villages, including Magadi town and nearby panchayats. Road development works above the bridge have been taken up at a cost of about Rs 3 crore, while land acquisition for Chikkamaskal road improvement is underway with a budget exceeding Rs 10 crore.
A major proposal of Rs 96 crore has been approved for road works from Thippasandra Hand Post to Sugganahalli Road under KRDCL. A grant of over Rs 6 crore has been set aside for road development from Hosapete Circle to Balaji Theatre to improve town connectivity. He said overall development projects worth Rs 100 to 130 crore have been brought to the taluk, boosting infrastructure growth and economic progress.
He added that Chikkamaskal region is developing as a scenic Malnad-like area attracting interest in farming land purchase and tourism activities. He criticized opposition parties and said the ongoing works prove continuous development in the region under government initiatives. KRDCL engineers and officials were present during the inspection of bridge works in Magadi taluk.
Officials said the project will improve connectivity strengthen rural infrastructure and support farmers students and traders by making transport easier and faster across the taluk. It will also help improve water supply systems and create new opportunities for economic growth in the region. Local residents welcomed the development saying that long pending demands for roads and drinking water are finally being addressed through coordinated government efforts in Magadi taluk.
