Dakshina Kannada district has been witnessing relentless heavy rainfall since Sunday, severely disrupting normal life across the region. According to official reports from the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) and the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the district recorded widespread and intense rainfall.

In the last 24 hours, from June 30 morning to July 1 morning, Mulki taluk recorded the highest rainfall in Karnataka, with 199.5 mm of rain. This stands as the highest rainfall recorded in the state during the period, highlighting the severity of monsoon conditions in coastal Karnataka.

Several other parts of the district also experienced very heavy rainfall. Kilpadi recorded 171 mm, followed by Mangaluru Bala with 145.5 mm, Mangaluru Pandeshwar Fire Station with 140 mm, Surathkal with 132.2 mm, and Ekkur with 130.5 mm. Other areas such as Padil (129.5 mm), Neerumarga (127 mm), Ullal Boliyar (126 mm), Bantwal Manchi (125.5 mm), and Bantwal Panjikallu (124.5 mm) also reported significant rainfall levels. Ullal Kotekar received 122 mm, while Belthangady Marodi recorded 103 mm, Puttur Panaje 97.5 mm, and Sullia Jalsur 70.5 mm.

Almost all taluks, including Mangaluru, Ullal, Mulki, Bantwal, Belthangady, Puttur, and Sullia, recorded heavy rainfall ranging between 70 mm and 200 mm, indicating widespread monsoon intensity across the district.

Due to continuous heavy rain, daily life has been significantly affected, with reports of waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and temporary power outages in several areas. Authorities have advised the public to take necessary precautions.

Residents have been urged to stay indoors unless essential, avoid travel during heavy rain, and ensure doors and windows remain closed. People are also advised to unplug electrical appliances to prevent damage during power fluctuations.

The IMD has warned of continued heavy rainfall in the coming days, urging fishermen, motorists, and residents in low-lying areas to remain highly cautious as the monsoon remains active over coastal Karnataka.
