Chikkalingaiah urged officials to identify deceased beneficiaries under Griha Lakshmi and stop payments without proper verification

District Level Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority Chairman Chikkalingaiah instructed officials to identify ineligible beneficiaries and prevent misuse of government funds under the Griha Lakshmi scheme.
He was speaking at the committee meeting held at the Zilla Panchayat Mini Hall in Mandya on Tuesday. He said the Women and Child Welfare Department must regularly verify beneficiary details and ensure that financial assistance reaches only eligible people.
Chikkalingaiah pointed out that payments under the Griha Lakshmi scheme may continue after the death of a beneficiary if proper checks are not made. He directed officials to collect information about deceased beneficiaries and stop unnecessary payments immediately.
Reviewing other guarantee schemes, he said that under the Yuva Nidhi scheme, thousands of candidates in the district have registered and eligible applicants have received financial support through the program.
He also discussed the Anna Bhagya scheme, saying that food security must reach BPL and Antyodaya ration card holders on time. Officials should ensure proper supply from warehouses to fair price shops without delays.
Speaking about the Shakti scheme, he said a large number of women have benefited from free bus travel. He added that the government’s free bus pass facility for school and college students is also being implemented successfully in the district.
Officials from different departments attended the meeting and discussed the progress of various public welfare programs. The authority members stressed that proper monitoring, transparency and timely action are needed to make government schemes more effective.
The meeting concluded with a call for stronger coordination among departments to ensure benefits reach the right people and public money is protected.
