Mandya honors Nadaprabhu Kempegowda on birth anniversary

The birth anniversary of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda was celebrated at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Bhavan in Mandya with a call to follow his ideals and achievements in daily life. P. Ravikumar, MLA of Mandya assembly constituency, said Kempegowda built Bengaluru with a vision of creating a better city and society.

Speaking at the programme, organized by the district administration and Kannada and Culture Department, Ravikumar said Kempegowda’s ideas of good governance and public welfare remain relevant even today. He added that his biggest dream was to install a statue of Kempegowda in Mandya district. A grant of Rs 2 crore has been released for the project, and the inauguration is expected within six months.

He also said development works including lake improvement projects are underway and efforts will continue to make Mandya a modern city. He mentioned that large funds have been provided for various development activities in the district.

District Collector Dr. Kumar said Kempegowda’s contributions continue to inspire people because he was a visionary administrator and founder of Bengaluru. He created markets for traders and built lakes to support water needs and agriculture. His efforts helped Bengaluru grow as a planned city with strong foundations.

Religious leaders at the event said Kempegowda promoted public welfare and developed Bengaluru through thoughtful planning. They urged citizens to remember his values and teach younger generations about his achievements.

The programme also highlighted the importance of following his principles in modern times. Speakers said that leaders should focus on development and public service while working for society. They praised Kempegowda for his vision that transformed a small settlement into a major centre of trade and culture.

Officials including Vijayalakshmi Raghunandan, B.P. Prakash, Dr. Shobharani and other representatives attended the celebration. The event concluded with a message that Kempegowda’s ideals of leadership honesty and service should remain a guide for future generations. His legacy continues to remind everyone that dedicated work can bring positive change and create a better society when people follow the path of responsibility and unity in their everyday lives too.
