The NSS Unit of Hunsur City Girls’ Government Pre-University College along with the Karnataka Government Police Department observed International Anti-Drug Day with awareness activities on Tuesday.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Ningaiah from City Police Station addressed the gathering and explained the importance of staying away from drugs. Police staff also shared information about the dangers of addiction and its impact on society. A video of a live programme organised by Bengaluru City Police officers was shown to students.
Speaker Girish explained drug abuse, causes, effects, and the role of students in creating a drug-free nation with examples. Head Constable Basave Gowda and lecturers attended the programme along with NSS volunteers.
The event encouraged youth to choose healthy habits and reject harmful substances. It highlighted that drug trafficking is illegal and affects the future of young people. The college staff supported the message and motivated students to spread awareness among their friends and communities.
