Every home should have a library says Manasa

State Kannada Book Authority President Dr. Manasa said every home should have a library as a sign of knowledge, just like a place of worship represents devotion.

She spoke after inaugurating the library for every home initiative organized with the Kannada and Culture Department, Kannada Book Authority and district awareness committee at the residence of Dr. Meera Shivalingaiah in Mandya.

Dr. Manasa said reading books helps people face life’s challenges and achieve success. She explained that a district team is working to encourage families to build home libraries.

She recalled the message of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar about saving money for books because knowledge improves life. She said writers and readers are the two wheels of the world of literature and both are needed for progress.

Dr. Meera Shivalingaiah said books create good thoughts and develop interest among readers. She described libraries as sources of power and said they bring harmony and awareness to families.

Dr. B. Shivalingaiah said every village needs libraries and announced plans to start one in Gowdahalli village for public benefit.

Sri Nischalananda Nath Swamiji said children should develop reading habits and learn from books with concentration. He added that great personalities achieved success through reading and home libraries can help families grow.

Journalist Chandrashekhar D.Ko. Halli spoke about a favorite book and its message on life skills.

Many writers and guests including literary figures and social workers attended the event. The organizers said the movement will continue to promote reading culture and spread knowledge among people across society for a brighter future in every home.
