After a prolonged period of political estrangement, former Union Minister and former Janata Dal (United) leader RCP Singh met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at the latter’s official residence in Patna on Saturday.

The unexpected interaction between the two veteran politicians has sparked fresh speculation about RCP Singh’s future political plans and the possibility of his return to the Janata Dal (United).

RCP Singh later shared details of the meeting on social media by posting a photograph with Nitish Kumar. In his message, he described the interaction as cordial and stated that he had met his former leader and held a discussion with him. The post quickly drew attention from political observers, who interpreted the meeting as a potentially significant development in Bihar’s evolving political landscape.

According to party sources, RCP Singh arrived at Nitish Kumar’s residence accompanied by several supporters and waited outside until the Chief Minister emerged. As Nitish Kumar came out of his residence, RCP Singh greeted him respectfully. Photographs from the meeting showed both leaders standing together, further fueling speculation regarding the nature of their discussions.

Some accounts suggested that Nitish Kumar briefly acknowledged RCP Singh before moving on to interact with other party workers and leaders gathered at the venue. Despite varying reports about the duration and extent of the conversation, RCP Singh maintained that the meeting did take place and emphasized that the exchange was cordial.

The meeting has revived political discussions about whether RCP Singh could return to the Janata Dal (United), the party where he spent many years as one of Nitish Kumar’s closest associates. However, neither RCP Singh nor the party leadership has made any official announcement regarding his future political affiliation, leaving room for continued speculation.

Political circles have also been discussing reports suggesting that Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, may have played a role in facilitating the meeting between the two leaders. However, there has been no official confirmation from either side regarding these claims.

RCP Singh shares a long political association with Nitish Kumar that spans several decades. Before entering politics, he served as an officer in the Indian Administrative Service and later opted for voluntary retirement to join active public life through the Janata Dal (United). Over the years, he emerged as one of Nitish Kumar’s most trusted confidants and was entrusted with several important organizational and parliamentary responsibilities.

During his tenure in the party, RCP Singh served as the National General Secretary and later became the National President of the Janata Dal (United). He also represented the party in the Rajya Sabha on two separate occasions and went on to serve as a Union Minister in the central government.

Although the recent meeting has generated widespread political interest, no formal indication has been given about any possible reconciliation or re-entry into the party. Political analysts believe that the significance of the meeting will become clearer in the coming weeks as Bihar’s political landscape continues to evolve ahead of future electoral developments.
