Prasannakumar announces awareness drive for voter list

The District Congress will host an open meeting on June 29 regarding the voter list revision process.

The District Congress is set to host an open meeting to educate the public on the Special Revision of Voters List (SIR). The event will take place on June 29 at 11 a.m. near the Shivappanayaka statue.

District Congress President R. Prasannakumar announced the initiative during a press conference. He explained that many citizens remain confused about the revision process. The party’s primary goal is to ensure no eligible voter is left out. Prasannakumar claimed the Central Government and Election Commission have been attempting to exclude specific voters, citing past allegations of voter omissions in states like West Bengal and Bihar.

To combat this, the Congress is launching a door-to-door campaign starting June 30 to help voters understand the new application forms. The party has appointed Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to visit homes, verify lists, and guide citizens on which documents are required. “Because this application is given to every voter anew, it must be filled very carefully,” Prasannakumar emphasized. Prominent leaders, including former minister Madhubangarappa and several MLAs, are expected to attend the public meeting.

Beyond voter issues, the party addressed the ongoing NEET scandal. The Congress leadership expressed outrage over the lack of government accountability and demanded the resignation of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. They further insisted that Karnataka should conduct medical entrance exams using the state’s CET model. The party reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its struggle against these national issues.
