MLA G.T. Deve Gowda claims credit for Kumaraswamy’s success, denies defection rumors, and prioritizes Chamundeshwari constituency’s ongoing development.
MYSORE
Senior MLA G.T. Deve Gowda has made a bold political claim, stating that he played a pivotal role in H.D. Kumaraswamy’s rise to power. Speaking to reporters in Mysore, the legislator asserted that Kumaraswamy successfully served as Chief Minister on two separate occasions largely due to his steadfast support and backing.
Reflecting on their shared political journey, the MLA highlighted the special attention his constituency received. He recalled how Kumaraswamy organized the massive “Kumara Parva” program exclusively in the Chamundeshwari constituency, a scale of campaigning he claims was never replicated elsewhere. “He made me a minister twice, and I stood by him as he became Chief Minister twice,” Gowda remarked, emphasizing their past political bond.
The conversation also shifted to current political tensions. Addressing recent comments about his potential departure from the JD(S) party, Gowda remained dismissive of the speculation. He clarified that his primary focus remains the development of his constituency rather than getting caught up in internal party games.
Regarding rumors that he might defect to the Congress party after expressing positive sentiments toward Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Gowda firmly denied any secret meetings. He clarified that he has not spoken with leaders like D.K. Shivakumar about joining their camp. Ultimately, he insisted that his loyalty lies with the people who voted for him, promising to continue his work to bring essential funding and progress to Chamundeshwari regardless of the ongoing political chatter.
