Dakshina Kannada BJP President Satish Kumpala has demanded the government recover salaries paid to members of the Guarantee Scheme Implementation committees. Kumpala alleges these committee members are responsible for major irregularities, including payments to over 3,000 “ghost” beneficiaries under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme in the district. He argued that the government wrongly prioritized party workers over officials for these oversight roles. With ₹3.34 crore reportedly lost to ineligible recipients in the region alone, Kumpala insists that committee members must be held accountable and pay back their received remuneration alongside recovering stolen funds from fraudulent beneficiaries.
