NARAGUND

A special campaign will soon be launched across Naragund taluk to bring children who have dropped out of government schools back into classrooms. The direction was given by Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Sridhar Chinagundi during an inspection visit.

As part of his visit, the Executive Officer inspected schools, Anganwadi centres and several ongoing development works under the Shirol Gram Panchayat limits. He reviewed administrative services, examined records and checked whether various government facilities were being properly implemented.

During his visit to the Government Senior Secondary School in Kallapura village, he inspected the attendance records of teachers and students. While examining the registers, he found that five students had been absent from school for a long period.

Taking immediate action, Sridhar Chinagundi contacted sector education officers over the phone and instructed them to identify the students and ensure their return to school at the earliest. He also directed officials to conduct a special campaign throughout the taluk to locate and re-enrol children who had discontinued their education.

Responding to the instructions, field education officers assured him that necessary steps would be taken and that a taluk-wide drive would be carried out to bring all school dropouts back into the education system.

The Executive Officer also tasted the midday meal served at the school and checked the quality of the food. He inspected the kitchen, reviewed the storage arrangements and cleanliness of food materials, and advised the staff to maintain high standards while preparing meals for children.

He later verified the teachers’ movement register and stock records maintained by the kitchen staff. He instructed officials to update all records regularly and accurately.

The inspection continued with visits to the school compound wall work, the proposed gutter construction site and the crematorium developed under the NREGA scheme. He also reviewed attendance records and nutrition stock registers at the Anganwadi centre before inspecting staff attendance at the Shirol Gram Panchayat office.

Officials and staff members accompanied the visit, which focused on improving services and strengthening accountability.
