High Court questioned the bail process before the complaint filing, calling it unusual and issuing notice in the matter

The Karnataka High Court has cancelled the anticipatory bail granted to Vachanananda Swamiji of the Harihar Panchamasali Bench in a POCSO case. The order was passed by a bench headed by Justice M Nagaprasanna, who reviewed the matter and announced the decision.

The court has, however, allowed three weeks’ time for filing a regular bail application. During this period, the protection from arrest under the earlier anticipatory bail order will continue. This gives temporary relief to Vachanananda Swamiji from immediate arrest.

The case relates to a complaint filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act on May 7. Reports stated that anticipatory bail had been granted to the Swamiji a day before the complaint was registered, on May 6.

The High Court had earlier questioned the way the bail was granted before the complaint was officially filed. The court had described the process as unusual and issued a notice regarding the matter.

During the hearing, the court examined the circumstances surrounding the bail order and later decided to cancel the anticipatory bail. The case will now continue according to legal procedures, with the accused given time to seek regular bail.

The development has drawn attention as the matter involves serious allegations under the POCSO Act. Authorities and legal representatives are expected to continue monitoring the proceedings as the case moves forward. The court’s decision highlights the importance of following proper legal steps while handling sensitive cases involving minors and public figures. Further action will depend on the upcoming hearings and decisions by the judiciary.
